Alarm Maintenance Checklist
MSE Alarms Routine Maintenance Inspections are carried out to a high standard not down to a price as per the following inspection checklist reflects.
1. Check Battery Voltage in:
- Alarm panels and replace batteries that are below 12.20V under load or 5 or more years old. Ensure terminal connections are clean and secure.
- RF (Wireless) equipment batteries and replace as needed.
- Button remotes/duress pendants and replace as needed.
2. Check Power Supply:
- Verify stability and compliance of the power supply to wired components.
- Verify that the A/C power is on.
3. Check Wireless Signal Strength:
- Ensure wireless devices have strong signals and are within range.
- Confirm wireless components communicate properly with the control panel.
4. Test Communication Paths to the Monitoring Centre:
- Test Primary Comms
- Test Backup Comms (Dual Path Only)
- Test 3rd Comms (Tri-Path Only)
5. Test Keypad Buttons and Display:
- Ensure all buttons are responsive and the display functions correctly.
- Verify proper backlight and contrast settings.
- Ensure proper communication between the keypad and control panel.
6. Check Control Panel Status:
- Verify correct system status and absence of errors.
7. Review Event Logs:
- Check for errors or issues in the system’s event logs.
8. Inspect Wiring:
- Look for and address any frayed or damaged wires in wired equipment.
9. Test Sensor Connections:
- Ensure proper connection and functionality of all wired sensors.
10. Test Detection Equipment:
- Smoke/Fire/Heat Detectors
- Motion Detectors: Adjust sensitivity if needed.
- Perimeter Detection
- Duress & Hold-Up Equipment
11. Spray Detection Equipment with Insect Surface Spray:
- Prevent insect-related issues.
12. Inspect All Equipment:
- Check for Damage or Potential Problems
- Ensure devices are securely mounted
- Ensure equipment housing is intact
13. Check System Date & Time:
- Ensure the system date and time are accurate.
14. Conduct Functional Reset Operation:
- Perform a reset operation to ensure system functionality.
15. Check Sirens:
- Ensure sirens stop after cut-off time and are working correctly.
16. Check Download Programming:
- Verify programming and updates.
17. Reset Next Communication Timer Test (ATI):
- Perform as required.
18. Check All Warning Signage, Stickers, & Telephone Labels:
- Ensure they are updated and correct.
19. Explain Any Issues:
- Discuss findings or recommended actions with the customer.
20. Perform Final System Test:
- Conduct a comprehensive test to ensure all components are working correctly.

- Confirm that the system operates as expected in all modes.
