How to Choose the Right Security System Provider?
The first step in purchasing electronic security for your home or business is finding the right security company. Many people make the mistake of chasing technological bells and whistles for the cheapest price in town, only to end up with an expensive and disappointing experience. A large portion of the work MSE does involves rectifying security systems that have been poorly designed and/or installed with an insufficient quantity or quality of equipment. The best and most cost-effective security system is the one you get right the first time.
1. Security License
By law, in South Australia, both the company and individual workers must hold a Security Agents License with Consumer and Business Services (CBS License Check).
2. Cablers Registration
By federal law in Australia, all cabling installed in a customer’s premises must be done by a Registered Cabler (Check Registered Cablers).
3. Established Reputation
It’s crucial to find a local provider that will be around for many years to service and support the system installed.
MSE Alarms is a South Australian family-owned business established in 1989, holding Platinum Corporate Membership with ASIAL for over 25 years.

4. Is All Alarm Monitoring the Same?
Two critical factors determine the level of security provided by your alarm monitoring service as follows:
A. AS2201.5 Alarm Transmission Standards
These standards define Class 1 – 5 (1 being the lowest, 5 being the highest). Choosing the right level is essential to match your security needs.
B. AS2201.2 Alarm Monitoring Centres
This classification includes Classes A, B, C, and 1, 2, 3, with A1 being the highest level, which is the standard provided by MSE Alarms.
In addition to the A1 Monitoring Standard, ASIAL provides an R1 classification, meaning there are two (2) Certified A1 Alarm Monitoring Centres operating fully redundant to each other.
Beyond this, MSE offers a VIP service that includes active supervision of all alarm activity to ensure customer expectations are exceeded.
5. Security Advice
Choosing the right security system is why you engage a professional security consultant like MSE Alarms. An expert consultant ensures you have all the critical information needed to make an informed decision.
Every professional security provider should carry $20M in Public Liability Insurance, but MSE Alarms is among the few providers that also hold $1M in Professional Indemnity Insurance, a requirement for Fee-for-Advice security consulting.
How to Choose the Right Security System?

- Duress Alarm – Is personal protection required?
- Fire Alarms – Do you need protection for personal safety and property?
- Remote Alarm Monitoring/Notification – How will alarms be monitored and responded to?
- Alarm Response – What response is required? (Security Patrol, SAPOL, SAMFS, SAAS)
- CCTV Cameras – Do you need internal/external surveillance for personal and property security?
- Access Control – How will you manage secure door/gate access?
